Droṇakalaśa

Among the Vedic sacrifices, the Somayāgas are of different class. The soma juice is the main dravya or ingredient to be offered into the sacrificial fire in these yāgas. The soma juice is prepared by crushing the soma stalks with stones. It is then strained through a cloth called daśāpavitra into a wooden vessel with a handle. This latter is called ‘droṇakalaśa’ or ‘duroṇakalaśa’.
