Rājarājeśvara reigned A. D. 985-1014. Rājarājeśvara I, was one of the greatest kings of South India. He was a conqueror, builder and administrator. The details of his conquests are known from his inscriptions. It was he who built the Bṛhadīśvara temple at Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu.
