Uddhava

From Hindupedia, the Hindu Encyclopedia

By Swami Harshananda

Uddhava was the son of Devabhāga a yādava hero. He was a cousin and friend of Kṛṣṇa. When Kṛṣṇa decided to send the news of his welfare to the gopīs of Vṛndāban who had been very much worried, it was Uddhava who acted as his messenger. Before Kṛṣṇa left for his eternal Abode, Uddhava approached him for his last message. This has now become well- known as the Uddhavagitā.[1]
