Born in Nattarasankottai, Tamil Nadu, India on Saturday the 19 January 1946 in a vaisya community. Completed B.E (Mechanical engineering) in Annamalai University in 1968; Completed M Tech (Aeronautical Engineering) in Indian Instityute of Technology, Chennai in 1970; Completed M.Sc by research in Applied Mathematics from Bradford University in United Kingdom in 1973.

Worked with Singapore Airlines as an engineer in Singapore from 1974 to 1982. Migrated to Mebourne, Australia in 1982. Worked in Westpac Bank from 1982 - 1984; Worked in Telecom Australia (Telstra) from 1984 - 1996. Retired from working in 1996 and have been trying to promote Hindu Dharmic ideas and looking after the family needs.

Married to Rukmani who is Registered Nurse who trained as a nurse at a mature age. She is right now working part-time in Melbourne. Have four sons and one daughter. Eldest son Saravana Bhavan married to Tamil Selvi; Have two children of their own and live in Melbourne, Australia. Second son Karuppiah is married to Zhilei Chen and have one young son. They are living in College Station, TX, USA. Ramanathan graduated as Dentist in Dec, 2010. Subramaniam is doing his fourth year in vetenerary science. Last, but not the least, daughter Valliammai is doing her fourth year B.Sc (Maths) and B.A (Japanese).
